Pantone’s color of the year for 2020 is…

It’s the end of the year. And ICYMI, every year Pantone - the guys that create those really cool color swatch catalogues that help the design world stay true to their colors - declare what color will represent the coming year.

For 2020 they chose “Classic Blue.”

According to Pantone, while blue is most people’s favorite color, this particular shade is “timeless and enduring” and “elegant in its simplicity.” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute says in a press release, “We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on,”

Eiseman says: “A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, [it] encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”

When it comes to home decor, Pantone confirms that there are many possibilities for the 2020 color: “Classic Blue injects creative confidence into interiors, transforming a space through unique color combinations and tonal statements. Easily applied across so many different materials, textures and finishes, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is a dependable blue that can take you in different directions expressing tradition and elegance as well as unexpected boldness.”

In 2019 Pantone picked Living Coral, citing it is a “sociable” hue that was a “reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life."

We love “Classic Blue” as it is part of everyday Miami life: from our bright blue skies to the color of Biscayne Bay. We know it will show up on the walls of many of our clients shortly.
